A Connecticut native and Award-Winning Chef, Freddy Underhill became intered in cooking at the age of 13, just after the loss of his mother. While working up through the ranks in restaurant kitchens, Freddy enrolled in the Center for CUlinary Arts in Cromwell, CT to build on his working knowledge and improve his culinary skill.
He worked in various Italian restaurants, pizzerias and bakeries before moving to Florida in 2005 and joining the team at Sunset Grille in St. Augustine, FL. After holding the head chef position from 2013 to 2019, Freddy felt ready to fulfill his lifelong dream of having his own restaurant and in March 2020 became the owner of Amici Italian Restaurant with his wife, Jennifer.
With his lifelong experience, Freddy knew there would be challengesm but wasn’t expecting a world-wide pandemic to shut him down 6 days into ownership. However, his creativity, love of friends & family, and passion for quality food has driven him to survive no matter what.
