TALENT: Skip Worden
Chef Skip was born and raised in Wisconsin. He started in the restaurant business at an early age as a steward and worked his way through the ranks to Executive Chef of the Racine, Wisconsin Marriott Hotel, managed by New Castle Hotels & Resorts. Through his 28 year career with New Castle, Chef Skip has worked at four of their New York properties, Montauk, Smithtown, Alexandria Bay and Syracuse, as well as Portland, Maine, Ypsilanti, Michigan and currently Jekyll Island, Georgia. Each property has been between 100 and 350 rooms with à la carte restaurants and catering facilities to feed up to 1,000 people.
Skip says...."A big part of my journey, by far, has been the people I have worked with. The people in the hotel industry are the heart and soul of each property and each department. Without them and the experiences they bring, we cannot do what we do every day. This journey has been a never-ending learning experience. Each property is different on many levels, which adds to the excitement of each new challenge and adventure."

Whiskey, Wine & Wildlife is a culinary destination weekend with collaboration between The Westin Jekyll Island, the Jekyll Island Authority and The AdFish Group. The weekend’s events will raise funds and awareness for programs of the Jekyll Island Foundation, with a mission of conservation, education and historic preservation efforts on Jekyll Island.
